Job Overview:
The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) plays a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with additional learning needs, helping them achieve their academic and developmental goals in an inclusive classroom setting. Working closely with classroom teachers and the SEN/Inclusive Education team, the LSA assists in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), adapting classroom activities, and promoting a positive learning environment. This role is ideal for compassionate and patient individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and student well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support & Engagement:
- Assist identified students with special educational needs or learning difficulties, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Support students in academic, social, and emotional development, encouraging participation and independence.
- Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and track student progress.
- Provide 1:1 or small group support as directed by the teacher or SEN team.
Instructional & Classroom Assistance:
- Support the class teacher in preparing modified learning materials and differentiated instruction.
- Help manage classroom routines, maintain discipline, and ensure student safety and inclusion.
- Use visual aids, educational games, and assistive technology to facilitate learning.
- Encourage positive behavior and engagement during activities and lessons.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Observe and record students’ performance, behavior, and progress.
- Provide feedback to teachers and the SEN team to inform instructional planning.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of student development.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with class teachers, SEN coordinators, school counselors, and parents to support student learning.
- Attend training sessions and professional development programs as required.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school events where applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (mandatory).
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications (any of the following preferred):
- Teaching Assistant Certificate
- CACHE Level 2 or 3
- Diploma in Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role supporting students with learning needs (mandatory).
Visa Status:
- Candidates with Spouse Visa, Own Visa, or Employment Visa are preferred.
