Job Overview:
The School Nurse with a DHA License is responsible for providing healthcare to students and staff, promoting health education, and maintaining health records. The nurse will handle medical emergencies, manage chronic conditions, and ensure a healthy school environment. This role requires a compassionate and skilled healthcare professional who can address the physical and mental health needs of the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Healthcare Provision:
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
- Manage chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Health Assessments and Screenings:
- Conduct routine health assessments, including vision, hearing, and scoliosis screenings.
- Monitor and follow up on immunization records and health compliance.
- Health Education and Promotion:
- Educate students, staff, and parents about health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Develop and implement health education programs and workshops.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students and staff.
- Prepare and submit health reports to school administration and health authorities as required.
- Infection Control and Safety:
- Implement and monitor infection control measures within the school.
- Ensure the school environment complies with health and safety regulations.
- Provide guidance on health policies and procedures.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to support student health and well-being.
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding student health issues and concerns.
- Participate in school meetings and health-related committees.
- Mental Health Support:
- Identify and support students with mental health concerns.
- Provide counseling and referrals to appropriate mental health resources.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license to practice as a registered nurse.
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a school nurse or in pediatric healthcare is preferred.
- Experience in health education and health promotion activities.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical and first aid skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle emergencies calmly and efficiently.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records and other healthcare technology.
