Job Overview:
The School Nurse is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of students and staff by providing medical care, first aid, and health education. The role requires a compassionate and proactive healthcare professional who can effectively manage medical emergencies, maintain health records, and ensure compliance with DHA and school health policies. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a safe and healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Health and Medical Care:
- Provide immediate medical attention and first aid to students and staff as needed.
- Assess and treat minor illnesses and injuries while determining when further medical attention is required.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
Health Monitoring and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student health records, including immunization records and medical history.
- Conduct health screenings and assist in routine health check-ups as required.
- Ensure compliance with DHA health regulations and school policies related to student health and safety.
Emergency Response and Preparedness:
- Act as the primary medical responder for emergencies and coordinate with external medical professionals when necessary.
- Develop and implement emergency care plans for students with specific medical conditions.
- Ensure the school clinic is stocked with necessary medical supplies and first-aid kits are available across the campus.
Health Education and Awareness:
- Educate students and staff on hygiene, nutrition, and general health practices.
- Provide guidance on communicable disease prevention and manage vaccination programs as required.
- Offer training and workshops for teachers and staff on first aid and medical emergency procedures.
Parental and Staff Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding student health concerns, accidents, or medical conditions.
- Work closely with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Provide recommendations for students requiring specialized medical attention or accommodations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certification:
- BSc in Nursing (mandatory).
- Valid DHA License (mandatory).
Experience:
- Proven experience of 1–2 years as a Nurse, preferably in a school setting.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and medical professionals.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Empathetic, patient, and caring nature, committed to student health and well-being.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive medical information.

- Ability to work independently and collaborate with school staff as needed.
