Job Overview:
The Special Educator is responsible for supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) by implementing individualized learning plans, collaborating with teachers and parents, and ensuring an inclusive classroom environment. This role requires expertise in special education methodologies and a passion for helping students overcome learning challenges to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support and Intervention:
- Identify students with special educational needs and create tailored intervention plans.
- Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
- Provide direct support to students in both individual and group settings.
- Modify teaching methods and materials to meet diverse learning needs.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with teachers to develop inclusive classroom strategies.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress and concerns.
- Coordinate with external specialists for additional student support when necessary.
- Conduct meetings with parents and staff to review intervention outcomes and adjustments.
Assessment and Compliance:
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ learning needs and track progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student interventions, progress reports, and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and SEN educational regulations.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated with best practices in special education and intervention strategies.
- Attend professional development workshops and training sessions.
- Support fellow educators in implementing effective inclusive education practices.
Health and Well-being:
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment for students with special needs.
- Promote social, emotional, and behavioral development in students.
- Implement strategies to enhance students’ self-esteem and independence.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (mandatory).
- B.Ed. is mandatory.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of school experience in a similar role (mandatory).
- Recent or previous experience should be in a school setting.
- Should be available to join immediately.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of SEN policies, intervention techniques, and assessment tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to different learning abilities.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using assistive technology and educational tools for SEN support.
