Job Description: Head of Pastoral and Activity
Job Overview:
The Head of Pastoral and Activity is responsible for promoting the overall social, emotional, and behavioural well-being of students while ensuring full compliance with KHDA guidelines. This role involves providing leadership in pastoral care, managing extracurricular activities, and fostering a positive school culture that supports holistic student development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, empathy, and organisational skills, with a deep understanding of student welfare and engagement in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Welfare & Well-being:
- Oversee and implement pastoral care programs that support students’ personal, emotional, and behavioural growth.
- Ensure early identification and intervention for students requiring social or emotional support.
- Collaborate with counsellors, class teachers, and parents to address student well-being concerns.
- Promote positive discipline, inclusivity, and mutual respect across the school community.
Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead and guide pastoral teams to maintain a caring and supportive school environment.
- Oversee extracurricular, enrichment, and co-curricular activity planning to ensure balanced student participation.
- Manage timetabling and substitution efficiently to maintain smooth academic and activity schedules.
- Coordinate with section heads, activity leaders, and counsellors for effective student engagement.
Policy & Compliance:
- Ensure all pastoral and student welfare initiatives are aligned with KHDA regulations and school policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to attendance, discipline, and student welfare records.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to safeguarding and child protection guidelines.
Communication & Engagement:
- Act as a liaison between students, parents, and teachers regarding behavioural and emotional well-being.
- Organise assemblies, awareness programs, and campaigns promoting values, leadership, and resilience.
- Foster a culture of openness, empathy, and inclusivity through effective communication strategies.
Professional Development & Training:
- Provide training and workshops for teachers on student well-being, behaviour management, and emotional support.
- Stay updated with pastoral best practices and KHDA updates related to student welfare.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to the school’s strategic development initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counselling, or a related field (mandatory).
- A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Psychology, or related discipline is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of teaching or pastoral leadership experience in a school setting (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of KHDA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in timetabling and substitution management.
Visa Status:
- Candidates with Spouse Visa, Own Visa, or Employment Visa are preferred.
